Kloeckner Metals recently unveiled plans to expand its operations in Greenville, S.C. through an $11.3 million investment. The company is set to add 50,000 square feet of space to its existing facility. The new space will house a brand new ALCOS high-speed slitting line that is 84 inches wide.
The new slitting line will have the ability to process aluminum as well as high-strength steel. Kloeckner already offers slitting, cut-to-length, shearing, and multi-blanking, and does not currently process either high-strength steel or aluminum on site.
“We wanted a slitting line that would look forward to the future of processing ever more demanding customer specifications, including advanced, automotive-grade steel and aluminum. We specified a highly automated line with sophisticated technology features that will deliver a highly-efficient and capable value proposition for our mill partners and customers,” says Kloeckner Metals Vice President Automotive Bob Cromley.
The expansion will increase the size of Kloeckner’s South Carolina facilities to 200,000 square feet, and is expected to be completed by September 1st. The new slitting line will be set to serve the Southeast’s growing automotive market.
