ALCOS is a leading manufacturer of precision heavy-duty Slitting Lines. We deliver outstanding solutions with customizable High-Speed Light Gauge, Medium Gauge and Heavy Gauge Slitting Lines. Our slitting lines can process materials up to .625 inches (16mm) thick, widths up to 96 inches (2438mm) and coils up to 100,000 lbs (45 tonnes) with an outside diameter of upto 100” (2540 mm).

ALCOS Slitting Lines are provided to slit all metals, including:

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous
  • Hot rolled steel (black, pickled, and oiled)
  • Cold rolled steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Silicon steels
  • Pre-painted steel
  • Tin plate
  • Aluminum

Plus, our high-strength slitting lines are specially designed to process the Advanced High-Strength Steels that are increasingly found in the marketplace today.

Many features are available to increase the efficiency of the line and to ease the threading of the material, thereby increasing safety and production, including:

Our Light Gauge Slitting Lines are capable of processing coils from 0.006” (0.15 mm) to 0.160” (4 mm) in thickness at speeds of up to 2400 feet per minute (730 mpm). Tin plate, pre-painted and aluminum, as well as light carbon steels of increasingly higher yield strengths can be handled by these lines.

Most slitting falls into this category, also known as “General Purpose Slitting”. The typical gauge range is from 0.015” (0.4 mm) up to 0.250” (6.35 mm)

For material thicknesses above 0.250” (6.5 mm) and up to 0.625” (16 mm) or higher, our heavy gauge lines provide rugged, durable, robust equipment to combat the rigors of processing these more difficult to handle materials. Our fully automated “CLAMP” threading systems provide speed and operator safety.

Typical Slitting Line Options:

Turret Injector Slitters

The Turret Injector Slitter is an interchangeable type slitter incorporating an integral injector system conveniently located within the main slitter base.

Twin Head “Synchro-Cut” Scrap Choppers

Our “Synchro-Cut” Scrap Choppers provide a means to take edge trim from the slitter and chop it into short, uniform pieces for safe, efficient removal and subsequent deposit into a scrap bin.

Robotic Slitter Tooling Set-up

Slitter tooling can be loaded onto a capstan by a pick-and-place robot. The tooling can then be transferred onto the slitter arbors by the traversing capstan.

CNC Programmable Slitter Tooling Position Set-up

The Alcos CNC Programmable Slitter is completely automatic. The slitter knives are adjusted at the operator station by inputting the required width of each strip.

Automatic Strip Threading Systems

Our Traversing Strip Clamp Threading System is used to assist with threading of narrow slit mults or high strength steels where threading can be difficult.

CNC Strip Separators

To reduce set-up time, the separator setup is entered into the HMI, the separator discs are positioned automatically.

Shape Correction Hydraulic Levelers

Alcos Shape Correction Hydraulic Levelers are available in 4-Hi, 5-Hi and 6-Hi configurations.

A cassette leveler allows work rolls of different diameters to be quickly interchanged, allowing the leveler to process a wider gauge range of material.

“Combi” Tension Units

In order to provide tensioning for both surface critical lighter gauges, as well as for heavier gauge HR material, our “Combi” Tension Unit is fitted with both a drag pad unit and tension rolls which can made from polyurethane or a non-woven material.

Turret Recoilers

The Alcos Turret Recoiler is a safe time saving option. A central capstan with twin mandrels enable one coil to be banded and unloaded off-line while the line continues to run in production with the opposite mandrel.
